Just over two weeks after law enforcement officers arrested a labourer for breaking into an East Canje Berbice (ECB) man’s home, he was charged for the act.
Charged: Mahendra Persaud
Reports are that 25-year-old Mahendra Persaud, a labourer of Adelphi Village, East Canje, Berbice, was arrested on October 21 for the offence of breaking and entering and larceny committed on Latchman Persaud which occurred between October 17 and 18, 2021, at Reliance Abundant, ECB.
The charges were laid under Section 229 (a) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
He appeared at the Albion Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh where the charge was read to him. He admitted to the offence and was jailed for two years. (G9)
