Labourer jailed for wounding Essequibo Coast man

A 20-year-old man was on Tuesday sentenced to two years in jail for wounding another man.
Keron Dexter, a labourer, of Dartmouth, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) had committed the act on Delney Gonsalves, a 59-year-old self-employed resident of Dartmouth, Essequibo Coast.
Reports are that the incident occurred on September 16, 2023, in Dartmouth. The charge was laid under Section 50 of the Criminal Law Offences Act, Chapter 8:01.
The case was heard on Monday, at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Tamieka Clarke. Dexter was not required to enter a plea initially. However, after the prosecutor applied the Administration of Justice, Dexter pleaded guilty to the charge and was subsequently sentenced to two years imprisonment.
