Labourer jailed for wounding security guard

A labourer who admitted to wounding a security guard was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on Wednesday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Mark Thompson appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty and admitted to the charge which stated that on November 22, 2019, at Bourda, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Roger Harmon.
In a plea of mitigation, the 29-year-old man told the court that the Virtual Complainant (VC) threw him in a nearby gutter, so he bit him in order to escape.
The Prosecutor submitted that on November 22, the VC was carrying out an arrest on the defendant, who allegedly committed an offence, when he was bitten on his left side eyelid.
The matter was then reported and Thompson was arrested and charged.
