A 53-year-old labourer was granted bail when he appeared before the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. Joseph George of Brush Dam, Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was charged with robbery under arms, contrary to Section 222(c) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 08:01.
The charge alleges that on Monday at Vryheid’s Lust Public Road, ECD, he committed the offence against a 47-year-old self-employed woman of Montrose, ECD. George appeared before Senior Magistrate Clive Nurse, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of $150,000.
