Labourer remanded on theft charge

Thirty-five-year-old Moni Lall called “Sunny” was on Friday remanded to prison by Magistrate Leron Daly when he appeared before her, charged for breaking and entering a mechanic shop.

Remanded: Moni Lall, called “Sunny”

Lall, a labourer, pleaded not guilty to the charge which detailed that between August 13 and 14, 2019, at Georgetown, he broke and entered Shawn Clarke’s mechanic shop and stole a number of motorcycle batteries, car batteries and equipment valued $300,000.
While no facts were presented in court, Police Prosecutor Traceyann Gittens objected to bail on the grounds that the defendant has no fixed place of abode.
Magistrate Daly upheld the prosecution’s submission and remanded Lall to prison. The case will continue on August 30, 2019.
