Labourer slapped with rape charge

Labourer David Europe has been placed on $170,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, before whom he appeared on Friday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer a charge of rape.
The 24-year-old was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which detailed that on January 22, 2018, while a visitor at the 13-year-old virtual complainant’s East Bank Demerara home, he had sexual intercourse with the lass.
According to facts presented to the court, the teen allegedly walked into her room and saw the accused laying on her bed, and he forcibly held her against her will and raped her.
The case will continue on July 18.
