Police are investigating the murder of a 22-year-old laborer of Sand Hill, Upper Berbice River which occurred on Monday.
Dead is Francis Sukoo. It was reported that at the incident occurred sometime between 17:00h and 18:07h at Sand Hill, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
According to reports, Sukoo was hanging out with suspect and other friends at a local shop, where they were drinking alcohol. However an argument ensued between Sukoo and the suspect, which led to Sukoo slapping the suspect several times. The suspect then left the shop, only to return armed with scissors. Police said that he attacked Sukoo, stabbing him five times in various parts of his body, causing him to collapse.
According to Police, the suspect fled the scene, while Sukoo was rushed to a nearby health worker. He was subsequently transported to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
An investigation has been launched.
