Labourer who stole tyre rims fined

A labourer was on Wednesday fined $50,000 or four weeks imprisonment after he appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to a simple larceny charge.
Forty-six-year-old Ho?e Hamilton of Lot M 41 North Sophia, Greater Georgetown, on January 18, 2018, stole four 18-inch chrome tyre rims valued $100,000; property of Dale De Mendonca.
Hamilton pleaded guilty with explanation to the charges that were read to him.
He told the court that he usually does cleaning of drains and yards around the Sheriff Street area when he came across the chrome rims and thought that they were thrown away.
The man said he took the rims and was shortly after apprehended by the Police who placed him in custody.
He subsequently returned one of the rims to the owner.
