Lad celebrating 13th birthday drowns at Jubilee Resort

A lad who was celebrating his 13th birth anniversary at the Jubilee Resort at Timehri, East Bank Demerara (EBD) drowned on Wednesday. This lad has been identified as Ray Stuart Jr. of Robb Street, Bourda, Georgetown.

A Police report on the incident has stated that the lad was taken to the resort by his father, in the company of relatives and friends, to celebrate his birthday.
However, as they were having fun in the pool, the teenager, who does not know how to swim, ventured into the deeper section of the pool and went under the water unnoticed.
After his father had observed the lad missing, he raised an alarm, and other relatives began searching for the lad in and out of the pool.
His lifeless body was found submerged in the pool by a relative sometime later. He was immediately rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre by his father and relatives, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was examined by Police for marks of violence, but none was seen. The body was then taken to the Memorial Gardens mortuary to await a post mortem.
Investigations into the incident continue.
