Twenty-five-year-old former Guyana Under-19 skipper Eugene LaFleur has expressed total enjoyment after his team, Victoria Park Cricket Club emerged victorious Sunday in the 2016 Toronto and District Cricket Association (T&DCA) Elite 50-over final at King City.
The left-hander LaFleur spoke gleefully about the side’s successful run in this year’s edition and in the process dethroned top club JB Masters, who had a phenomenal run with the title since 2010 winning it on three different occasions.

LaFleur also flourished with the bat accumulated 337 runs from eight innings coming out with a fantastic average of 112.3 while he struck an unbeaten 70 as his highest score.
This season completed the third for the Berbician and he stated that he relished his game and will continue to focus hard on representing Guyana at the regional first-class level soon.
“I want to say that I enjoy my game thoroughly again in Canada and more importantly I was among a winning bunch of guys after beating Yorkshire Cricket Club in the final,” LeFleur, who led his country’s youth team to Barbados in 2008, related.
The left-arm spinner also emphasised the importance of consistency if he wants to wear back the Guyana colours, especially at the senior level.
“I know it is about good performances whether here or back home; I just have to keep making runs and taking wickets,” the elder brother of two who featured for Guyana, stated. Jamal LaFleur is his other brother.
According to Eugene, as soon as gets back to his native land, he will be hoping to break into the West Berbice side to take part in the current and inaugural Guyana Cricket Board Franchise Jaguars three-day competition.
The national selectors are using this competition to name their team for the upcoming West Indies Cricket Board four-day tournament.
“Well after completed my stint in Canada and with those performances, I am now very confident of doing well back home in the competition, once selected; as I said I enjoyed my cricket in the T&DCA Elite competition; I think it was very competitive and my team mates were very supportive too,” LeFleur, who was also in the Guyana Under-19 triumphant three-day team in 2007 (St. Kitts and Nevis), mentioned.
Among his fellow Victoria Park colleagues was ex-Guyana fast-bowler Trevon Garraway.
Both Guyanese were in Victoria Park’s side that won the T&DCA Premier 50-over championship in 2014 too. La Fleur scored a responsible 70 while Garraway proved his all-round capability by making 42 runs.
