A lance corporal was charged for inflicting grievous bodily harm on a man and appeared on Wednesday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Colwin Major, 32, of La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly and denied the charge which stated that on May 4, 2019, at Le Repentir Cemetery, he unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on Warren Duke.
Police Prosecutor Richard Harris did not object to bail, however, he requested that the court order that Major stay away from the victim until the completion of the matter.
The prosecutor further added that the defendant is a member of the Guyana Police Force.
Magistrate Daly granted bail in the sum of $40,000 and the matter was adjourned until September 26, 2019.
