Lance Corporal dies after losing control of car at Hauraruni

A Lance Corporal attached to the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) was on Tuesday morning killed after he reportedly lost control of the car he was driving along Hauraruni on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway.

Dead: Wilmont Ward

The dead man has been identified as 26-year-old Wilmot Anthony Ward of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden. The accident occurred at about 07:00h and involved motor car bearing registration number PLL 6077, owned by the now dead GDF rank.
Police stated that at the time of the accident, Ward was allegedly speeding along the roadway when he lost control of the motor car. The car reportedly toppled several times before crashing into a tree.
However, Ward reportedly fell onto the roadway in the vicinity of Scotty’s Creek, resulting in him sustaining bodily injuries.

He was picked up in a semi-conscious condition and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he succumbed while receiving medical attention. His body was later transported to the Memorial Gardens Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem.
An investigation has been launched into the fatal accident.
Back on in April, Lancelot Giddings, 26, a GDF rank died after crashing into a pedestrian and a car on the Liliendaal Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara.
It was reported that Giddings, of Prince William Street, Plaisance, was driving along the Liliendaal Railway Embankment when a pedestrian attempted to cross the road but instead, he walked into the path of Giddings’ motorcycle, which resulted in the rank losing control and crashing into a motor car.
He was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Hospital.
Then in May, 24-year-old Private Kwasi Rodriguez of Albouystown was killed in an accident at Vlissengen Road, Georgetown. Police had stated that Rodriguez was on his motorcycle driving at a fast rate when he collided with a motor car.
