A landlord was placed before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Friday and arraigned for stealing from his tenant who occupies the lower flat of the building.
Peter Rollux denied the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Leron Daly.
It is alleged that on February 11, 2019, at 5th Street, Alberttown, Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Anastasia Spencer and stole a Samsung Galaxy cellphone valued $85,000 along with $20,000. The prosecution is contending that the Virtual Complaint, who is pregnant, secured her apartment and left when her landlord allegedly went into her apartment.
The 31-year-old man was released on $50,000 bail after Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh had no objections. The case will continue on April 5, 2019.
