Home News Larceny accused on $50,000 bail
A Lusignan, East Coast Demerara teen was on Tuesday arraigned on a larceny charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Eighteen-year-old Khemraj Persaud pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on March 29, 2016, at Port Kaituma, North West District, he stole 0,000, property of Basdeo Persaud.
Prosecutor Deniro Jones related to the Court that the case file was incomplete and the stolen money was not recovered by Police. He then objected to bail.
The defendant told the Court he lived in Lusignan but worked in Port Kaituma as a gold miner.
He was granted ,000 bail. The case will continue on May 3 at the Matthews Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
