Leonora Police Station Computer Training Centre opens

afforded the opportunity to gain knowledge on the use of technology. On Wednesday, Police Commissioner Seelall Persaud formally opened a Computer Training Centre located at the Leonora Police Station.
The Commissioner was accompanied by senior Police ranks as they inspected the nine computer stations available for use. Persaud was at the time in attendance at an awards ceremony which honoured Police ranks in D Division (West Bank Demerara-East Bank Essequibo).
Lecturer at the Centre, Corporal Veronica Wilson told Guyana Times that students are currently enrolled in training programmes.
“We are currently having a six weeks training programme for students… It is opened to persons of the community as well as Police ranks,” Corporal Wilson pointed out.
She further explained that services will be offered between the hours of 16:00h-18:00h – Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The project was spearheaded by Division Commander Stephen Mansell, who was said to have solicited the support from the business community in the Division to ensure the centre’s completion. The Computer Centre was first commissioned on February 15.
