Let the spirit of Deepavali reinforce self-sacrifice

The deep significance of Deepavali has the capacity to inspire evolution into self-consciousness. The occasion demands the rekindling of divinity with the fuel of higher intelligence. The shinning Purush, which permeates the entire being of man should never be ignored but should be used as a tool for self-exploration which is the true purpose of our existence.
Like other religious festivals, Deepavali has a universal appeal, ie to influence self-sacrifice, which opens the gateway to Peace and Bliss. Cosmetic exhibition destroys the sanctity and undermines the sacredness and true relevance of the festival while there is a social side to the occasion, it must not be allowed to derail its spiritual values.
Lord Raama was never intimidated by the political fantasies of Ayodhya. He structured his life by only embracing the principles founded on the basis of truth. It was his steadfastness to Dharma which convinced and influenced the minds of his subjects to initiate pathways of Light to establish his return.
Deepavali is synonymous with Light.
Most appropriately at this time, Maha Laxhmi, the Goddess of Light is being revered with unflinching devotion. Maha Laxhmi could only be experienced through spiritual commitment not social engagements.
Today, therefore, is the occasion for total submission and reflection to the feet of the Devi. The Puraanas clearly stat that those who exhibit uninterrupted devotion at the feet of the Goddess during the period of Amawasya would become embodiment of Brilliance, Illumination, Radiance and Prosperity.
On this special occasion, spiritual activities should be exercised to welcome the Goddess. The tradition and culture demands a peaceful environment which is conjunctive for the full consecration of the Goddess.
The Viraat Sabhaa (Guyana) encourages all to observe fasting, do Pujas and attend your respective Mandirs and other places of worship.
