A 39-year-old mechanic was on Monday taken into Police custody after he was found driving an allegedly stolen motor vehicle along the Moco Moco Road in Central Rupununi, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo).

Reports are that a team of Police ranks, acting on information received, went to Moco Moco Road, Central Rupununi and confronted the suspect, of Culvert City, Central Rupununi. At the time, he was driving a Montana Conquest motor vehicle bearing registration number NAW 2497, which is suspected to have been stolen.
The mechanic, when questioned, claimed he had bought the vehicle from another man of Tabatinga, Central Rupununi, for $120,000 more than a year ago.
He was arrested, and the motorcar has been lodged at Lethem Police Station while checks are being made for the alleged seller. Investigations are ongoing.
