On Monday, Let’s Bet Sports Brand Ambassador Rawle Toney and Jefford’s Classic coordinator Edison Jefford gave effect to this partnership in a simple ceremony in which the sponsorship cheque was handed over.
Toney, in remarks, said, “Let’s Bet Sports is happy to be affiliated with a company and a brand that would have stuck to its word, stating that irrespective of all that’s happening in track and field in Linden and at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground, they would not move.”
Jefford, for his part, noted that support from companies boosts athletes’ development.
“This goes directly to the two million dollars in cash that we will offer our athletes on August 11. I know for sure they will be ready to burn the track…,” he said.
Unlike what had previously obtained when clubs benefited from the event, cash incentives now go directly to the athletes. Thus the top three finishers in any event will pocket $40,000, $25,000 and $15,000 respectively.
The event has also gained support of the National Sports Commission (NSC), ANSA McAL, ExxonMobil, DeSinco Trading Limited, Antarctic Maintenance and Repairs, YK Investments Pawn Shop, Jude Bike Shop, and Power Producers Distributors Inc.
This event will get underway at 09:00h on Sunday, August 11, and admission is $1,000 for adults and $500 for children.
