“I don’t want to make predication on medals, we are taking one match at time and hopefully it is good enough to give us not one but a few medals”, Lewis disclosed to Guyana Times Sport.
He added, “allot of the guys are peaking, they are all looking good; you see the fight, intensity and the will in training sessions which is very heartening”.
His enthusiasm would stem from having Edghill, who is on a scholarship at Lindenwood University in Missouri playing on a regular basis, Franklyn’s experience and success at this event along with Bryan and Cummings and imperious form.
Meanwhile, Franklyn who reached the quarter-finals at the 2005 edition of the Games held in Saudi Arabia is planning on going even further.
“The last time I went, my preparation was not all that good, it was not focused in certain key areas like tactical and physical so this tournament I started preparing like a couple months ago and I feel good so I like my chances”, the player explained.
He further stated, “the competition there is of a world class level and this time, they are even more players from the top 100”.
The racket wielder is charging his teammates to give a good account of themselves as success here can put Guyana on the map.
“It can only do good, they don’t know about us, when they think about South America they think of Brazil, so it can open opportunities for camps and I’m asking the guys to put their hands up and do a good job”.
