LGC anticipates action packed end-of-year

If you have ever thought about golf: learning, watching or playing the game, there is no time like the present to put your thoughts into action. The weather has changed, so golfing fans and players will have several months of spectacular tournaments and events from now until the end of 2018.
At the beginning of 2018, a new Executive Committee, comprising Aleem Hussain, Paton George, Pandit Ravi Persaud, Aasrodeen Shaw, Bishop Guy Griffith, Mike Guyadin and Deno Bissessar, was elected to office. Those guys promised that this year would be different from all others, they having boldly committed to more golf days and events than ever before.
To fulfil their boast, the Executive Team turned to long-time corporate member Macorp, who immediately responded with the loan of a Big Cat Excavator. With assistance from Choke Gas Station owner, who provided access to fuel, the Club, headed by Head Grounds Superintendent Mike Guyadin, embarked on an ambitious plan to build a dam around the entire grounds, and create an intricate drainage and water retention system that would alleviate the flooding that had plagued the course over the years.
With just six months gone by, it would be safe to say that the mission has been accomplished. Full recognition of their sterling contributions in making this possible are due to: Trophy Stall, Vish Trading, Kissoon’s Furniture, Sanjay’s Jewellery, Torginol Paints, El Dorado Rums, Food Town Restaurant, Ganesh Parts, Beharry’s Automotive, Yokohama Tyres, Shafura Hussain Foundation, BACIF, Grand Coastal Hotel, and Muneshwer’s Travel Service.
The Club has, to date, hosted 20 golf tournaments, and has ambitious plans to hold another 26 events before the end of this year. Corporate Guyana is seemingly in full support of this action, as almost every coming weekend will see major tournaments, to which all are invited to participate or spectate.
The action continues this weekend, as the points race for Club Champion 2018 heats up, with Mike Mangal, Patrick Prasad, Paton George, Ravi Persaud, Richard Haniff and others continuing to chase the leader, Club President Aleem Hussain.
The LGC has major tournaments scheduled for July, with Karibee Rice, Oddessy Transports, Crown Mining and ANSA McAL already committed to hosting their individual tournaments, and it is expected that hundreds of fans will be on hand to enjoy these grand tournaments.
The LCG can also be rented for weddings, corporate training/retreats, summer camps for kids, and many other activities. Members of the public are encouraged to come out and enjoy the ambience and tranquility of the ground, along with the great foods and drinks that are available every day of the week.
Guests at the Grand Coastal, Marriott and Pegasus hotels can avail themselves of special rates that include equipment rental and caddie fees.
