LGC Oasis Café-Akamai Trading Golf Tourney tees off today
– “There is a lot at stake,” says Walker

Commencing at noon today, the Lusignan Golf Club, in collaboration with Oasis Cafe and Akamai Trading, will kick off their highly anticipated golf tournament, and some of Guyana’s top golfers would be featured.
The tournament is being contested in match play format, meaning there will be two teams comprising 20 to 25 members. The two sponsors would each captain a team. William Walker (Oasis Café) and Brian Hackett (Akamai Trading).

In an interview with this publication, when asked his expectation of the tournament, William Walker said, “I’m excited (about) the tournament, and anxious because there’s a lot at stake. Bragging rights for either myself or Brian. I feel confident about our team winning, although a lot will depend on the draw and how we match our players. Then I am hoping my team mates play smart, calm golf and play to their handicaps. Looking forward to the after-golf activities with some good food and wines, compliments of Oasis and Akamai Trading.
“We will be social distancing of course. Golf is about competition, yes, but mostly about camaraderie and community, and that is something Akamai Trading and I believe in and want to see more of at the club.”
All COVID-19 measures will be in place, and the winning team will pocket a $30,000 gift item that can be claimed at the club house, restaurant or bar.

Oasis Café is Georgetown’s Original Coffee Shop since 2005, crafting authentic espresso-based drinks, pastries, cakes and sandwiches. Breakfast is served daily, as well as buffet lunch.
