Light heavyweight title bout added to ‘Sangre Malo’

The highly anticipated January 20 fight night dubbed “Sangre Malo” recently heated up with inclusion of the WBC Fecarbox Light Heavyweight Title fight between Trinidadians Sheldon Lawrence and Shawn Corbin.
Boxing Promoter and NexGen Global Marketing executive Aleem Hussain confirmed that the card which was headlined by Guyana’s top three boxers; Elton Dharry, Dexter Marques and Dexter Gonzales, has now been upgraded to a co-main event featuring the Lawrence/Corbin title fight.
Marques will be matching gloves against Venezuelan Dionis Martinez in the originally scheduled main bout; as the current Caribbean and Guyana Flyweight prepares for his Commonwealth title fight against champion Jay Harris.
The Guyanese pugilist will square off against the champ who hails from the United Kingdom in a bout set for March 31, 2018 at the Copper Box Arena; promoted by Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions.
The new main addition to the card will see Lawrence and Corbin squaring off in 12 full rounds of combat and should put on spectacle which will certainly complement the battle between Marques and Martinez who will lock horns for 10 rounds.
Meanwhile the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) will be hosting the official Press Conference for the card on, Thursday January 4 at the Giftland Mall at 15:30hs.
