Linden Deputy Mayor Bethune is new UDFA President

Following a prior postponement, the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) on Sunday was finally able to host its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Elections, thus paving way for new leadership in the Association.

Sunday’s AGM was hosted at the Egbert Benjamin Conference Hall in Mackenzie, Linden.
Subsequently after the protocols of the AGM, the lone slate for the elections, headed by Deputy Mayor of the town of Linden, Wainwright Bethune, was elected unopposed to lead the Association for the next two years.
Bethune’s election to the coveted post comes after outgoing President Terrence Mitchell and acting President Claude Williams gave no indication that they wanted to run for the post.

The new executive body of the UDFA

The outgoing President was present, as were Guyana Football Federation (GFF) General Secretary Ian Alves while the Returning Officer was another GFF official, Lyndon France.
Since Bethune’s slate of names was nominated unopposed, his executive body comprises First Vice President Sean Adams, Second Vice President Patrick Dey, Third Vice President Olston Thorman, Secretary Dawn McCammon Barker, Treasurer Kevin DeJonge, Public Relations Officer Reycia Nedd, Assistant Secretary /Treasurer Kellon Josiah, with the Committee Members Mark Richards, Dexter Harris, and Damian Forrester.
