Two men who hail from Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) were remanded to prison by Magistrate Clive Nurse on Wednesday when they appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court to answer to the offence of break and enter and larceny.
Lester Drakes, 19, of Half Mile, Wismar, and Jevon Nelson, 26, of Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie, are accused of stealing a number of items from the home of an Amelia’s Ward resident.
It is alleged that on Tuesday, November 29, they broke and entered the home of Esther Benjamin at Central Amelia’s Ward, and stole three gold chains valued $150,000, a pair of gold bracelets valued $100,000, two pairs of gold earrings valued $50,000, a BlackBerry cellphone valued $30,000, a quantity of clothing valued $75,000, a cosmetic bag valued $5000, and five packs of costume jewellery valued $10,000 and US$500.
They are scheduled to return to court on January 11, 2017.
