Linden, Georgetown veterans face off tonight

Fathers who played football at the highest level will be among those on show tonight as the Georgetown Masters face their Linden counterparts at 20.00hrs in what should be an interesting Father’s Day Classic feature match at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground in Linden.
However, in the supporting game the Linden Veterans will take to the field representing the West and East of the Mining Town from 18.00hrs. There will be special prizes for those early birds to the football game compliments of the Caring for Others Organization which is supporting the pre-Father’s Day event.
Leading the charge for Georgetown will be former national strikers `Sir’ Anthony Stanton and Deon Barnwell. They will be supported by Frank ‘English’ Parris and Gerald Grittens among others.
Linden’s Masters will include Wayne Bethune, Seon Warner, Renee Gibbons, Patrick Dey, Eon Wills, Troy Easton, Beresford Harry and Abdulla Hamid.
The supporting game will also have veterans like Oswald Benjamin, Tony ‘Spirit’ Adams and Rawle Gittens appearing for the West team while for the East side would include Ruel Williams and Travis Waterton.
Member of Parliament, Collis Fifth through the Right Start Foundation is responsible for organizing the double-header which is sponsored by BK International, BK Quarry and BK Super Mix, Banks DIH, Figgy’s Grocery, Bernard’s variety Store, Right Care Pharmacy, B. Harry Hardware Store, Fifth’s Enterprise, Jags Airline and Fly Jamaica.
