The team has made history as the first from Guyana to participate in this event. Members of the Linden team include team Leader Lindley Langhorne, Head Coach Shavin Greene, Assistant Coach Odella Hilken, and twelve jumpers: Ashanti Antigua, Akiela Johnson, Serena Drakes, Amnesha Charles, Rodwell Halley, Tyrese Thornhill, Prince Beckles, Adriell Wilson, Safron Grenville, Deshanti Grenville, Shannae Worrell and Jannee Greene.

Being the first year at a world class event, the jumpers participated in both novice and junior categories. Langhorne believes that hard work has paid off for the entire team, which he noted has pushed to perform at its best.
“It was not seen as an opportunity to participate, but as one to compete at this level. The team participated in the possible events for their age category and level”, Langhorne stated.
31 countries were represented at the event, and there were over 800 competitors.
The first event Guyana participated in was the Female 4 x 30 Speed, and the team that made the first jump for Guyana comprised of Ashanti Antigua, Akiela Johnson, Serena Drakes and Amnesha Charles.

“It will be good to have the support of the relevant authorities to ensure the establishment of the Guyana Jump Rope Federation for the further development of the sport”, Langhorne said. He added that a total of eight prizes were obtained, which were shared among six jumpers.
