Linden man busted with ganja at Eugene F Correia Airport

A 24-year-old resident of Amelia’s Ward, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice), landed himself in hot water on Tuesday after he was busted with 56.3 grams of marijuana at the Eugene F Correia International Airport, Ogle, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

It was reported that a rank of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) conducted a search of the passenger, Jamal Millington, and his luggage which led to the discovery of the suspected narcotics stored in two Pringles tins.
The substance was tested and confirmed to be ganja. The suspect was arrested and remains in custody pending charges.
Four months ago, a 33-year-old woman was busted with a quantity of cocaine in bowls of frozen food at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA).
Ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) had intercepted the woman who was identified as Mallika Lambert, with the drug on October 12, 2021 at the CJIA.

At the time, she was an outgoing passenger on a Copa Airlines flight destined to Panama with onward connections to JFK, New York.
When CANU ranks searched her luggage, 6.232 kilograms of suspected cocaine was found concealed in a bowl of curry and a bowl of pepper pot in one of her check-in luggage. As such, she was arrested and charged.
Prior to that incident, a 50-year-old man who holds dual citizenship for Guyana and the USA was detained after he was busted with a large quantity of marijuana shortly after arriving at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA).
Joel Cadogan, who lives and works in New York, was taken into custody when the discovery was made by Customs officials of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA).
CANU said the suspect entered Guyana with three large suitcases and two handpieces. He cleared immigration and was subjected to a random search by a GRA Customs official, and four compressed plastic parcels of suspected cannabis wrapped in jeans were uncovered in his luggage.
The substance was weighed and amounted to 4lbs.The suspect was detained and later charged. (G9)
