Linden man commits suicide

A Linden family is devastated following the suicide of 50-year-old Walter Layne, whose lifeless body was discovered hanging by an electrical cord from the ceiling of his home at Lot 5175 Central Amelia’s Ward,

The ghastly discovery was made at approximately 20:30h on Wednesday evening. According to information received, the son of the deceased, 18-year-old Trevon Layne who discovered the body, indicated that the act appeared to be premeditated since his father had related that he would be going away.

Layne, a former RUSAL employee, was also said to be suffering from hypertension and a thyroid disorder, which caused him to leave his job earlier this year. Layne’s immediate family related that they last saw him alive at home on Wednesday afternoon when they left for church.

According to Police, foul play was not suspected; however, a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted to determine the actual cause of death. Layne is survived by his wife and four children. Investigations are ongoing.
