Linden man remanded for attempted murder

A South Amelia’s Ward, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara- Berbice) man was on Monday remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan after being charged with intent to commit murder.

Miner Samuel Boucher, 27, was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on May 24, 2016 at Cuyuni River, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Shanell Rodrigues with intent to commit murder.

Bail was objected to by Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers, who told the Court Rodrigues was still hospitalised.

According to Jeffers, Rodrigues, who is known to Boucher, is the owner of a shop in the interior. The altercation between the men stemmed from an argument between the two over money owed to Rodrigues.

Boucher will make his next court appearance on June 15 at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.
