Linden NGO gears to host annual girls’ camp

A non-governmental organisation (NGO) with a desperate need to see young women lead productive lifestyles, despite of their backgrounds and ethnicities, is gearing towards hosting its third annual empowerment camp for girls.
The NGO, Impacting Communities Changing Lives (ICCL), launched ‘Girl Stand Up’ in 2016 which targets about 24 young women between the ages of 14 through 17.

Highlighting the fact that “not too much is being done for the youths in the area”, the participants were selected from six secondary schools in the mining town.
Trudi De Barros, Creative Director at the organisation said, “We are dedicated to raising the standards of the community by empowering the next generation of young girls and fostering a sense of hope and purpose”.
During this year’s camp, which is slated for August 13 to 17, participants will be taught by experienced facilitators who are expected to present on a range of topics spanning the empowerment and self-esteem building spectrum.
