The Overseas Medical Assistance Team (OMAT) on Wednesday donated US$5000 to the Linden Centre for Special Needs in an effort to assist with the rehabilitation of its building.
Members of the team made the donation to representatives of the Special Needs Centre at the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC), where the non-profit medical organisation is currently conducting a medical mission.
OMAT President, Dr Stephen Carryl, during the simple handing-over ceremony, noted that the organisation, which started in 1992, has been providing care in health and education over the past 27 years in developing countries like Guyana.
Linden Mayor Waneka Arrindell, who was present at the event, expressed gratitude to the team for its kind gesture while she made the call for other organisations to follow suit.
