Students of the St Aidans and Christianburg Primary Schools in Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) were the recipients of dental care last week, compliments of Dr Jonnel Mortley of Healthy Smiles Project, USA, who brought
her team to Linden for the first time in her six years of conducting the outreach.
Dr Mortley teamed up with Nigel Worrell of ANSA McAL; the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) and the Linden Mayor and Town Council (LM&TC) for a well-planned outreach, which saw more than 300 students of the two schools receiving dental care.
Every child also received a clean-up and a care pack, while some were referred to the Hospital for further check-ups. The LHC representatives said they were pleased with the initiative, which gave them a chance to see the extent of dental care needed in the schools. Mayor Carwyn Holland, who spearheaded the planning of the activity, expressed his joy to be part of such activity at his former school.
The team was treated to a special luncheon at the LM&TC. (Utamu Belle)
