The last week of the much anticipated Linden Town Week will culminate this weekend, with some exciting events to thrill Lindeners and the hundreds who are expected to travel up to the mining town.
The action gets underway today with the “Bikers Fest”, hosted by Vybz Entertainment at Northern Burnham Drive, with a display of stunts by members of the Sonic Hunter Bikerz Group and the Linden Highway Rippers.
For the children, there will also be a display by the BMX Boys and Skateboard Kids. This will definitely add some excitement to the event.
As the place gets darker, all roads will lead to the Christiansburg Hard Court for “Colour Fete” which will feature top deejays out of Georgetown and Linden, including Gully Ras and Selector Diamond; two of the most versatile men on the console.
On Saturday, members of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club will be part of the Linden Exhibition Festival slated for Koker Street. There, there will be lots on display as drivers and riders show-off their skills.
In addition, there will be lots on sale including food, craft, clothes and many other items. The main event for the night, however, will be the Vybz Regional All Black Affairs at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground. Admission to this event is $1500.
On Sunday, the last day of the celebrations, the main attraction will be the International concert featuring “Vershon” out of Jamaica and soca sensation, Lil Rick out of Barbados. To do some juggling to entertain the audience will be the Stone Love Crew out of Jamaica.
Tickets cost $2000 and the concert is sponsored exclusively by X-tra Beer. After a long week of events, Monday, May 1 will be the wash down at the Dr Haynes Pool at Amelia’s Ward.
Other attractions will include a cricket competition, Linden Open Tennis Championship and the annual Duck Curry Competition at Major’s residence, Amelia’s Ward. Linden Town Week will end with the Guinness in the Streets Football Tournament hosted by Banks DIH Limited.
