Lindener killed by falling log

A Linden porter was killed on Tuesday after he was crushed by a fallen log.
Dead is Michael Paul, of Lot 4582 Central Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie, Linden. The incident occurred at 23 Miles Mabura Road in Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice). According to information, the 25-year-old man was at the time working for a Central Amelia’s Ward logger/businessman.

Reports are some time between 14:00h and 15:00h, the businessman and four workmen, including the now deceased man, wrapped up loading logs on a truck, GWW 1868, and while they were about to strap the logs with chains the wooden stanchion broke, causing a log to fall on the now deceased man. He was picked up and rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC), where he was pronounced dead on arrival. An examination of the body reportedly revealed bruises on the right side of the chest and the right side of his ribs which appeared to be fractured. The body was taken to the LSCA Pensioner Funeral Home. A post-mortem examination will be conducted soon.
