A Lindener who appeared before Magistrate Christel Lambert at the Linden Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday was granted bail in the sum of ,000, after pleading not guilty to three separate charges of obtaining money by false pretence.
It is alleged that the defendant Damion Jacobis, 36, on three separate occasions obtained $75,000 from virtual complainants (VCs) Lashan McDonald, Shemeca Bullen and Quianna Welcome, with the intent to commit fraud.
The court heard that the defendant allegedly obtained money from the VCs while pretending that he was in a position to purchase land for them.
The incidents are alleged to have occurred on Republic Avenue, Mackenzie, Linden on Saturday April 16.
The defendant was granted $20,000 bail for each offence and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on August 24.
