A 26-year-old miner of Wismar, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) was remanded to prison after he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, to answer to a charge of narcotics possession.
The charge alleged that Collis Jerrick, on February 1, 2017, at Black Water Creek, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni), was found to be in possession of 145 grams of cannabis for the purposes of trafficking.
On the day in question, Jerrick was reportedly searched by Police Officers and busted with a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The accused, who was unrepresented, denied the charge when it was read to him and entered a not guilty plea.
The man was then remanded by the presiding Magistrate to the Camp Street penitentiary until April 18, when the matter will continue at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court.
