Lindener remanded on narco trafficking charge

A 39-year-old driver of Sunflower Street, Wismar, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) has been remanded to prison after he was charged with being in possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Sheldon Joseph, also known as “Bam Bam”, pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
The prosecution is contending that Joseph had 350 grams of cannabis sativa in his possession, on January 10, 2018, at 47 Miles, Mabura Road, Upper Demerara. According to the prosecution’s case, Joseph was arrested at about 15:30h after he was caught with the illegal drug in his possession. Reports are the defendant was hitching a ride in the tray of a Mango Landing-bound vehicle, which was stopped and searched. The illegal substance was allegedly found in a haversack that the defendant had in his possession. He was remanded to prison until February 16.
