…denies charge stemming from alleged workplace altercation

Forty-year-old Phillip Rose, the General Manager of Little Rock Television Station (LRTVS), appeared before the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on Monday, charged with assaulting a staff member.
Rose, of Adelphi Village, East Canje, Berbice, appeared before Magistrate Michelle Matthias, where the charge was read to him.
It is alleged that on January 8, he assaulted Marisa Brutus at the television station’s premises.
Rose, who was not represented by an attorney, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution did not object to bail, and Magistrate Matthias released him on $20,000 bail.
The matter was adjourned to June 8.
It is alleged that a dispute involving a wages book at the television station led to the assault. Brutus serves as the station’s marketing manager.
A video recording of the incident subsequently surfaced and was widely circulated on social media.
