Live ProActive touching the nation through sports

With the month of October completed, Live ProActive collaborated with GT&T to launch many sporting activities under the Pinktober theme as they felt the urge to inform the public of the importance of a physically active lifestyle.
Live ProActive is a group of young professionals keen on empowering individuals through effective communication, knowledge sharing, practical sessions, positive psychology, sustainable life skills and resources for personal growth, the development of the environment and positive transformation in families and communities. Some of the programmes offered are psychological and social wellness workshops in: physical wellness courses in nutrition and exercise programs, environmental wellness with consultations in Eco – friendly solutions, occupational wellness with counselling sessions and life skills such as First Aid and CPR training and more.

Pinktober Participation
Some members of the Live ProActive team recently took part in a National effort to raise awareness for Cancer as they felt the importance for the general public recognize those who have lost their lives to this dreadful disease, along with family members and friends still in the fight. Thus the organization felt the urge to keep helping others in the effort to care for those in need as they continue to raise awareness. This year they were able to participate in GTT’s Pinktober 2018 to help raise awareness about Cancer. The organisation offered Zumba, Tai Chi, Yoga, basic and advanced Self-Defence, and Kids’ Karate of which the sessions were free of charge to the public.
Two of such activities held were, Tai Chi which is a relaxing exercise that helps to reduce stress, soothes muscles and old injuries with slow paced intentional movements. With classes being held on Mondays from 6:30 pm to 7:30pm Dr. Nazim Yassim, a well-known Karate expert in Guyana, conducted the Pinktober Tai Chi class in which many citizens pledged their allegiance as they turned out. Self Defence practices using Karate techniques are critical skills, especially in places where crime is rampant. Karate builds confidence and promotes discipline. These classes are still being held by 2nd Dan black belt Miranda Bennett at Berea International College at Brickdam next to Impeccable Hall at a cost of $2500 per month.
As such Live Proactive believes that everyone should have improved healthier lifestyles through physical activities and they are therefore encouraging the population to be aware of a holistic approach to wellness since it would not only be improving their lives but also the lives of children and the next generation.
