Local business supports PPP/C COVID-19 Response Forum

Odyssey Transport Service Inc, Odyssey Sightseeing Tours Guyana Inc and FAB Mining Company Inc have put together 100 hampers for distribution to vulnerable citizens within the Tuschen-Uitvlugt area affected by the curfew measures implemented to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Manager of the company, Azeem Khan explained that after seeing the creative initiatives that the National COVID-19 Multi-stakeholders’ Response Forum has embarked upon throughout the length and breadth of Guyana, the firm decided to come on board and assist.
“Since the pandemic had break out, like every other good heart of Guyanese we have been looking to see what is happening throughout our beautiful land of Guyana. We have noticed the [National COVID-19 Multi-stakeholders’ Response Forum] and we see the good work they doing and we decided to come on board and give them so donation,” Khan posited.
The manager also called on other business owners to follow suit in helping the less fortunate people at this time.
“This time, our three company is basically running at five per cent only working and we have a large workforce and we have closed our main office in Georgetown since the day before elections and when you look around you see people working once a week or twice. So, by saying that, it is very hard on people,” he stated.
The hamper was then filtered down to the Tuschen-Uitvlugt Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) Chairman, Vishal Ambedkar, who is tasked with the distribution. Ambedkar expressed heartfelt gratitude to the company along with the Forum in ensuring that Guyanese are not abandoned at this critical time.
The Forum was activated by the Presidential Candidate of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), Dr Irfaan Ali and has since established an online presence, with doctors offering advice and answering questions to ensure that all Guyanese, regardless of their race, religion, or political affiliation, are protected against the deadly virus.
The Presidential Candidate noted that every Guyanese is paramount to him and as such, he is ready to work for the good of all Guyanese to ensure that they are protected.
To date, the forum has distributed over 1000 face masks and other essential items to citizens throughout the ten administrative regions. (Shemar Alleyne)
