Local entertainers to join frontline in fight against COVID-19
A newly-formed group of local entertainers, ‘Entertainers on the Frontline’, earlier today submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Health on how they can provide support to the national efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The proposals were presented to Dr Leslie Ramsammy and Nazim Hussain at the Ministry of Health on Brickdam. Dr Ramsammy and Hussain represented the Health Minister, Hon. Dr Frank Anthony, who was in a Cabinet meeting.
The submission of the proposal stemmed from a prior meeting with Dr. Anthony and Minister of Public Affairs within the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Kwame McCoy, on August 19 at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC), where the involvement of local entertainers was discussed in conveying COVID-19-related health protocol messages to all Guyanese.
Founder of local entertainment agency Team MMR, WR Reaz, and Nigel Worrel, popularly known as ‘DJ Fox’, represented the entertainers’ group. WR Reaz told DPI that Dr Ramsammy was impressed with the team’s presentation.
“Given it was under 48 hours, Dr Ramsammy assured us that work will start, and from his confidence, we are very optimistic that our proposal will be accepted,” WR Reaz said.
