Logger arraigned for murder of Wiruni resident

Marlon LaRose, 26, a logger of Maria Henrietta, Upper Berbice River, was on Monday arraigned for the murder of 24-year-old Kevin Hercules, who was found with his throat slit at Wiruni Village, Berbice River.

LaRose appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts and was not required to plead to the indictment which stated that between September 12 and 13, he murdered Hercules.
As such, he was remanded to prison until October 15, 2021. It was reported that Hercules had last been seen alive on September 12, imbibing with friends. He reportedly asked for a drop to his home, which is located some distance away from the shop where he was hanging out.

Reports are that Hercules was seen entering a boat along with other persons, but according to his family, he never arrived home.
This resulted in the family filing a missing person’s report with the Police.
However, his lifeless body was seen floating in the Berbice River, and Police have since confirmed that his face was mutilated and there was a slit to his throat.
According to his aunt, Bernadette, her nephew had been living with her, and had left to work with a company situated at Wiruni. The aunt said that he had been employed with the company for the past two years, and had returned last month to celebrate his birthday.
