…over 2700 kg dried cannabis found
Police have detained a male logger following the discovery of multiple fields of marijuana cultivation at Hururu Backdam. This arrest came during what was described as a four-hour eradication operation in the Berbice River area where ranks destroyed several fields of cannabis cultivation with plants measuring from a foot to four feet in height. Police have also observed that two camps with kitchen utensils, clothing and groceries were also found and have been destroyed by fire together with the prohibited plants.

Meanwhile, another marijuana field was recently destroyed at 20 Miles, Millie’s Hideout, Upper Demerara, as E Division (Linden-Kwakwani) Police along with ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) continued a massive cannabis eradication exercise in the division.
This time around, a three-acre cannabis field was discovered with some 1000 cannabis plants. The plants were said to range from one foot to one and a half feet in height, with an estimated accumulated weight of about 1000 kilograms. Additionally, 2700 kilograms of dried cannabis was discovered.
