Lone gunman attacks, robs hotel owner

The owner of Caesar’s Palace Hotel is now counting her losses after she was attacked in the hotel’s lobby and robbed by a gun-toting bandit in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Fifty-two-year-old Roxanne Rollex was reportedly sitting in the lobby while a relative was working as the receptionist when the robbery occurred.
Guyana Times understands that at about 00:15h, a man entered the building and approached the receptionist and enquired about a room.
However, the man subsequently left but sometime after returned brandishing a shotgun in his hands. He pointed the gun at Rollex and demanded that she hand over her handbag which was nearby.
The fearful woman complied and handed over the $10,000 handbag which contained three mobile phones, totalling $145,000, $65,000 in cash and several important documents.
The perpetrator quickly exited the building and escaped in an unknown direction. The matter was reported to the Police and an investigation was launched. Guyana Times understands that the Police have retrieved CCTV footage to help them with their investigation.
Up to late Sunday evening, the detectives were still to make an arrest.
