Lone gunman robs IT technician of laptop, phone

A Ruby, East Bank Demerara (EBD) man is now in a traumatised state and left counting his losses after he was robbed by a lone gunman on Monday night.
John Charles, 27, was attacked by the unmasked bandit around 22:35h, a street away from his home.
Guyana Times> was informed that Charles was making his way home after exiting a minibus when he was attacked.
The man recounted that he was confronted by the lone gunman, who had been hiding in a bushy area alongside the road, as he was walking by.
“He jump out of the bush and he had the gun out already, so he point it at me and he tell me that I should give he all that I got,” Charles related.
The man further related that he refused to comply and it was at this time that the bandit placed the gun to his head.
“The man run up in me face and tell me that he ain’t joking; he put the gun to my forehead and he said ‘I seh give me all that you got’. When I watch he – ‘cause I get a good look at he and, I ain’t know, is not somebody from the area – I see that he mean what he said so I seh wah and I take off my bag and I give he,” the victim told this publication.
According to Charles, who is an IT technician, his bag contained a number of valuable items including an Apple laptop computer, an iPhone, connection cords and over $50,000.
“Those things were very expensive. I recently invested in the laptop; it was brand new, but I glad to be alive. The man seem like a mad man to me; wah, I was shaking after the thing, bai,” Charles revealed.
The matter was reported to the Police and an investigation was launched.
