Lone gunman robs Jettoo’s Lumberyard in broad daylight
A lone gunman executed a daring daylight robbery on Jettoo’s Lumberyard and Sawmill located at High Street, Georgetown, on Thursday carting off with over $100,000 in cash.
The robbery occurred at about 16:25h and according to Police, the suspect went to the establishment posing as a customer. He reportedly walked into the lumberyard and began looking at the items as a prospective buyer.
However, soon after, he whipped out a handgun from his waist and pointed it in the direction of the cashier, who was sitting in the cashier’s cage at the time.
The man reportedly instructed the woman to remain silent as he demanded cash she had in her possession.
At the time, she had $135,000 that belonged to the owner of the business. Fearful for her life, she complied and handed over the money.
The suspect made good his escape on a motorcycle that was parked outside the business. No one was injured during the ordeal.
Just about a week ago, a lone gunman relieved a La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara (ECD) resident of over $8 million and a motor car.
It was reported that Kevin Gildharie had parked his car at about 16:30h, and was allegedly approached by a man who was wearing a face mask.
The suspect held onto him and before he could free himself, the man pulled out a handgun and inflicted injuries to the victim’s neck. The robber then drove off with the man’s motor car which contained $8,030,000 and one Samsung cellular phone valued at $40,000.
