Looking…at Devious Delcy’s deceit

Hopefully to the surprise of no one in our Government, when it was the turn of Devious Delcy’s hired shills to present Venezuela’s legal arguments on their concocted “Border Controversy” at the World Court, they came out with guns blazing!! But why should we expect anything different from a bunch of international gangsters who REFUSE to accept the jurisdiction of the ICJ – an organ of the UN which Venezuela supports with a group it launched??!! That rejection was vehemently reiterated early on in Venezuela’s turn at the podium!! And their first hired gun ominously WARNED the August panel of international jurists that if they uphold the validity of the 1899 Arbitral Award, the controversy’s gonna remain unresolved!!
Meaning – of course, as they’ve been saying all along – they’re only gonna accept a decision in their favour!! So what kind of “justice” is Devious Delcy talking about on the Essequibo border? The shotgun type – my way or the highway”?? And for good measure, this particular shill ostentatiously wore a lapel pin showing Venezuela’s purported map that includes the Essequibo!! Delcy’s excuse – that she grew up from a tyke to her present precarious presidency weaned on the idea that Essequibo is Venezuela’s – doesn’t hold for that shill, does it?? He’s from Africa!! So your Eyewitness can only conclude he was following orders—yet another dig at the ICJ’s justice!!
Another shill purported to hark back to the colonial era when Venezuela first raised the controversy: “The colonial appropriation of the United Kingdom cannot, within the normative framework of decolonisation, result in a legal title for Guyana against Venezuela. VENEZUELA SUPPORTED GUYANA’S INDEPENDENCE!!”
Can you imagine such a crock of sh*t?? Supported Guyana’s independence?? So the invasion, annexation and subsequent occupation of our half of Ankoko Island in February 1966 by Venezuelan troops was support for our independence?? Evidently, according to the fella, “Guyana, in a mix of amnesia and greed, has sought to take over from the United Kingdom and has become a usurper itself!!”
But what about the Geneva Agreement – which they insist is the binding guide for their position?? It clearly states that once the attempts to work out a negotiated settlement have been exhausted, the UN Secretary-General can opt for one of the UN Charter’s menus of dispute settlement – including referral to the ICJ!! Seems they’ve been struck dumb by that clause – since it completely demolishes their rejection of the Court’s jurisdiction!!
Bottom line – it’s a slam dunk; we’re gonna win. The trouble is, while rulings of the ICJ are binding and without appeal, they’ve got no way to enforce them—relying instead on the UN Security Council.
Maybe they’ll authorise another American rendition??

…at provocations
Here we go again!! While the GDF tries to keep their reporting on armed provocations from across the Venezuelan border low-key, after the attack that resulted in one rank wounded, they went ahead and launched another on Wednesday!! Thankfully, there were no casualties this time – but clearly not for lack of trying!! The first attack was on Monday when we made our initial oral argument to the ICJ in Brussels; the second came when the Venezuelans made theirs.
Your Eyewitness has warned time and again that the Venezuelans always assume that our desire not to answer their provocations arises from a sense of fear, rather than a mature willingness to allow the judicial process at the ICJ to deliver justice impartially!! In his not-so-humble opinion (after all, he’s been proven right so many times before!!), the GDF gotta tell it as it is so the jurists can take note of Venezuela’s “wrong and strong” attitude!!
They’re actually being disrespected!!

…at a new word
Your Eyewitness came across the word “sonder”, which he believes is needed in this cynical age. Sonder reminds us that every person you see has their own life story in which they are the most important person!!
