LOTUS to lead Guyana’s tourism global digital marketing services

With the production of oil and gas in Guyana expected to boost Guyana’s economy in the coming years, which in turn will create an influx of tourists in Guyana, it was revealed in a press release on Friday that the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) has appointed LOTUS, a multi-award-winning, PR, digital communications and representation agency specialising in travel, to lead its global digital marketing services following a competitive pitch process.
The scope of work will see the LOTUS team create and implement a digital marketing strategy targeted at Guyana’s core international markets: the United States and Canada; the United Kingdom, Benelux; and the German-speaking markets (Germany, Switzerland and Austria) as well as domestic travellers in Guyana. The strategy will help put Guyana on the map for core audience groups focusing on key tourism pillars which include nature and wildlife, active exploration, culture and heritage, birding, conservation and SAVE travel (Student, Academic, Volunteer, Educational).
The LOTUS team has extensive first-hand knowledge of Guyana having been the in-market UK & Benelux tourism representatives of the GTA since late 2018. In this time, the LOTUS team has established a large network of key stakeholders in Guyana and around the world and understands the vision of the GTA to create a leading, sustainably managed destination.
“We are happy to see the appointment of LOTUS following an extensive and robust procurement and review process. LOTUS’ proposal met the ambitions of the GTA to continue cementing Guyana’s place as a leading green and sustainable destination. Having worked with LOTUS through the UK market representation brief, we know that the team is diligent, dedicated and has Guyana’s best intentions as its priority,” Director (ag) of GTA, Kamrul Baksh said.
The account bolsters the LOTUS LatAm division at LOTUS set up in 2017 to cater specifically for clients to, from and focused on Latin America and Spanish speaking markets.
Meanwhile, Managing Director of LOTUS LatAm, Kate McWilliams said, “since we began working with the GTA in late 2018, our team has become extremely passionate about Guyana’s authentic tourism offering and our own brand of sustainable destination management. We are delighted to be appointed as the lead agency for the Guyana Tourism Authority’s international digital marketing services, especially at such a crucial time for the travel sector. We look forward to rolling out this digital strategy to help raise the profile of the wonderfully unexplored ‘land of the giants’”.
