Futsal continues to grow in Guyana and the inaugural Street Vibes Entertainment coordinated, ‘National Futsal Cup’ shows the elevation since 32 teams will be battling for over $1M in cash prizes.
The tournament was officially launched on Wednesday during a simple ceremony held at the Windjammer Hotel, Kitty.
Tournament Coordinator Linden Gill declared that he expects a very competitive tournament, which will feature teams not only from the Georgetown environs but also out of the country.
He revealed that a Brazilian team and a unit comprising of African nationals will be competing in the event, which will add to the spectacle.
The event which is slated to commence today at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue with eight elimination matches, will feature 32 teams battling for over $1,000,000 prizes.
In the opening fixture at 19:00h, Kitty Hustlers will oppose Pike Street Sophia, while Agricola Champion Boys will engage Meadowbrook Kings (MBK) All-Stars at 19:30h.
The third fixture will pit Gold is Money against Albouystown-B at 20:00h, while Showstoppers will oppose New Marker Street at 20:30h and Mocha will tackle Broad Street from 21:00h.
In the showdown, Leopold Street will battle Melanie from 21:30h, while Back Circle lock horns with Alexander Village at 22:00h and Sparta Boss match skills with Channel-9 Warriors at 22:30h.
Winner of the tournament will pocket $700,000 and the championship trophy, while the second, third and fourth place finishers will receive $250,000, $150,000 and $100,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
