Mackenzie Sports Club’s AGM, elections set for May 30
Arising out of its last monthly meeting in April, the Mackenzie Sports Club Management Committee has announced that its Annual General Meeting and Biennial Elections are carded for Sunday, May 30, 2021 starting at 3.00pm at the MSC’s Main Pavilion.
It was also decided that there will be an Ordinary Members Meeting set to take place on Sunday, May 16, at 16.00hrs.
The last Management Committee’s last Monthly Statutory Meeting is to take place on Thursday, May 20 from 17hrs.
A release reminded that
only financial members would be eligible to participate at those meetings for which a quorum comprises 50 percent of members.
It has also been pointed out that the MSC Rules and Constitution informs the following under ARTICLE 6: “MSC RULES AND CONSTITUTION, MEMBERSHIP, Criteria
(f) Cessation of rights of Members
Where the subscription or any other payment or fees payable to the MSC is outstanding for three months, such member shall cease to enjoy the rights and privileges of membership until such arrears are paid in full.”
Further, arrears of three (3) months shall cause the membership to cease after a full investigation.”
Avery Trim is the incumbent President of the MSC, and Joseph Chapman is the General Secretary of a ten-member body.
Last year, an approach by Charles Ramson Jr, MP, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, was made on behalf of Government concerning making the central Mackenzie located Mackenzie Sports Club into one of three multipurpose facilities in Guyana. Meetings were held, and discussions are ongoing for which the Government of China is identified to fund this massive project.
The architect has visited the site, and a concept drawing is being done, which is to be presented for approval by the MSC Committee of Management.
Based on a change in the MSC Constitution in 2017, the Regional Democratic Council of Region 10 (Upper Demerara/ Upper Berbice) and the Linden Mayor and Town Council each has a representative who sits on the MSC Committee of Management, to have a clear understanding of how it functions.
The last Annual General Meeting and Biennial Elections of the MSC took place on June 30, 2019.
